Mesh announced a partnership with Visa on October 19 to let users spend crypto and stablecoin balances from participating wallet apps at more than 175 million merchant locations, according to Mesh’s announcement. The companies say the service will support in-store and online payments without requiring users to sell, transfer or preload funds first.
How will wallet balances pay at Visa checkout?
A Visa credential will be provisioned behind the scenes, while Mesh handles transaction funding and conversion, the company said. Users would tap at a contactless terminal or check out online, paying from balances already held in their wallet app.
Mesh said its system can fund transactions across supported crypto, stablecoin and fiat balances. The merchant receives a standard payment, with no new hardware or checkout changes, according to the announcement.
How broad is Visa’s merchant network?
Visa’s network covers more than 175 million merchant locations in over 200 countries and territories, Mesh said. Visa reported $14.2 trillion in payment volume for fiscal 2025, according to the same release.
The partnership gives wallet and platform providers a way to connect customer balances to Visa through Mesh rather than build and run their own card programs, the company said. Mesh will act as program manager and handle user onboarding and identity checks.
When can users start spending from their wallets?
Mesh has not announced the first participating platforms, supported devices or rollout date, The Block reported. Mesh said it will share availability details as rollout plans are finalized.
