Meanwhile raised $37.5 million from existing investors on Oct. 8, taking total funding above $180 million as the Bitcoin life insurer expands internationally, according to the company’s funding announcement.
Bain Capital Crypto led the round, joined by Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures and Morgan Creek Digital. Sam Altman is also among Meanwhile’s backers, the company said.
Who led the new funding round?
The new capital came from existing investors, the company said. The Block reported that the raise followed Meanwhile’s $82 million round in October 2025 and a $40 million Series A in April 2025.
Meanwhile said its net long-term underwriting income had already exceeded its 2025 total and was on track to more than double in 2026. It did not provide an absolute income figure.
What policy is driving Meanwhile’s international expansion?
Meanwhile launched BTC Life 1-Pay in early 2026 for high-net-worth clients outside the United States, according to the company. The whole-life policy takes a single premium in Bitcoin and promises a death benefit in Bitcoin.
After the first year, policyholders can borrow up to 90% of the policy’s value without a repayment schedule or margin calls, the company said. Its earlier BTC 10-Pay product was designed for US taxpayers.
How is Meanwhile building its broker network?
Meanwhile said it has signed 15 brokers serving wealthy families, including in Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE and Switzerland. The company named Lioner and Apeiron Group among its partners.
Meanwhile holds a Class IILT license from the Bermuda Monetary Authority, received in July 2024 after two years in the regulator’s sandbox, according to the company. Its balance sheet, reserves and audited financial statements are denominated in Bitcoin, while regulated institutional custodians hold policyholder Bitcoin.
