Manta Bridge withdrawals to Ethereum generally take about three days for the challenge period, then require a separate final claim. Manta Network described that three-day period for its native bridge, and L2Beat’s current Manta Pacific profile lists three days as the challenge period.

The wait starts after you initiate the withdrawal on Manta Pacific. The funds do not appear on Ethereum just because that first transaction confirms; the rollup must publish the withdrawal’s state and let the challenge period run before the exit can be finalized. For the current steps, check the transaction status in Manta Bridge and keep the withdrawal’s transaction details.

Why does a Manta Bridge withdrawal take days?

Manta Pacific uses an optimistic rollup withdrawal process, which gives network participants time to challenge a proposed state before funds are released on Ethereum. Manta Network’s January 2025 explanation put the native bridge’s challenge period at three days; L2Beat’s profile also lists a three-day period in its current contract data.

That delay is a security feature, but it makes the native route slower than a transfer that uses pre-funded liquidity. With a liquidity route, a provider may pay the destination funds sooner and settle separately, usually for a fee. The trade-off is that the route depends on that provider and its available liquidity; it does not make the native rollup withdrawal itself complete sooner.

What are the steps before funds reach Ethereum?

The bridge exit has several stages, and each has its own transaction status. The initial Manta Pacific transaction starts the withdrawal, but completion also depends on Ethereum-side processing and a final claim transaction.

  • Initiate: Submit the withdrawal on Manta Pacific and pay its network fee.
  • Prove: Once the withdrawal can be proven against a published rollup state, submit the proof on Ethereum.
  • Wait and finalize: Let the challenge period pass, then submit the final claim on Ethereum to release the funds.

L2Beat reports that Manta’s contracts can reduce the challenge period for selected state roots, with a stated minimum of 12 hours. But its profile cautions that this reduction feature may be only partially deployed and may not be in use, so the safer expectation for planning is about three days, plus time for the proof to become available and both Ethereum transactions to confirm.

What should you prepare before withdrawing?

Keep ETH in the wallet on Ethereum for the proof and finalization transactions, which are paid on that network. The Manta Bridge withdrawal does not supply gas for these later steps. If the wallet has no Ethereum ETH, the withdrawal can reach the claim stage and still wait until you fund the wallet.

Use the bridge’s transaction status to see when proving and finalization are available, rather than treating the initial confirmation as delivery. Ethereum congestion can add time or make the L1 transactions more expensive. For most users who need funds on Ethereum, the useful estimate is about three days before the claim becomes available, with some extra time and ETH reserved to finish it.
