How to Pay Mantle Lending Interest From Another Chain
To pay Mantle lending interest from another chain, bridge the borrowed asset to Mantle, then approve and repay it through the market holding the debt.

To pay lending interest on Mantle with funds held elsewhere, bridge the borrowed token to Mantle and repay it through the market where the debt sits. Aave’s Mantle market, for example, records borrowing and repayment on Mantle; funds on another network do not reduce that balance until they arrive and a repayment transaction is confirmed.
Use the same wallet address that holds the debt, and send enough of the borrowed asset to cover the accrued amount. A mantle bridge guide compares transfer routes; check that your chosen route supports the token and sends it to the right Mantle address.
What has to move across chains?
The repayment token has to reach the debt’s chain, while the lending position itself stays on Mantle. Aave says borrowers repay in the asset they borrowed, including the accrued interest, so bridging a different token alone will not settle an Aave debt.
Check the market’s displayed debt before transferring. Interest can accrue while the bridge transfer is pending, so leave a small margin above the quoted balance; any amount beyond what the market accepts remains in your wallet.
How do you bridge funds and repay?
First, confirm the lending market, borrowed asset, wallet address and current debt. Then transfer the token to Mantle, wait for the destination balance to appear, and repay from the lending interface. Aave’s documentation says an ERC-20 repayment may require token approval before the pool can take the funds.
- Keep MNT on Mantle for transaction fees.
- Verify the destination network, token contract and receiving address before confirming the bridge.
- After the transfer completes, check that the received token is the asset accepted by the lending market.
- Review the updated debt after repayment; a partial payment lowers the balance but leaves the loan open.
Can you repay without bridging first?
Only if the lending app offers a cross-chain repayment flow for that position and asset. Otherwise, the bridge and repayment are separate operations: the bridge delivers tokens, and a later Mantle transaction applies them to the debt. That adds transfer time and fees, but gives you control over the asset and amount that arrive.
For most borrowers, bridging the exact borrowed asset to the debt-holding wallet and repaying through the market is the clearest route. Confirm the repayment on Mantle before treating the interest or principal as paid.
