How to Compare Near-Peg Swap Prices
Compare near-peg swap quotes by checking the execution price, fees, route and slippage at the amount you plan to trade—not the displayed token rate.

Compare near-peg swap prices by checking how much of the asset you will receive for the same trade size, after fees and network costs. A token’s displayed rate is only a starting point: route, liquidity and trade size can change the result. Compare quotes on the same chain and for the same input amount.
What does a near-peg swap quote show?
A swap quote estimates the output tokens you receive for a specified input, using the current pool prices and route. Divide the estimated output by the input to get a comparable rate, then account for costs that the quote leaves out, such as network gas. For a fuller account of SushiSwap’s wallet features and costs, see the sushiswap guide.
Near-peg assets can still trade at different prices across pools. A pool with less available liquidity may give a worse quote for a larger swap, even when its displayed price looks closer to the peg. The quote’s output amount captures that trade-size effect more directly than a token price alone.
How do you compare swap routes?
Compare the estimated amount received, then check which costs and assumptions are included. A route may split a trade across pools or use an intermediate token; that can improve the quoted output, but extra steps may add fees or execution complexity.
- Use the same input token, amount and chain for each quote.
- Compare output after any trading fees shown in the quote.
- Include network gas, converted to the same value basis as the trade.
- Check the route and price impact at your intended trade size.
Price impact describes how the trade itself affects the pool price; slippage is the difference between the quoted and executed result as prices move. A slippage tolerance sets the maximum movement allowed before a transaction fails. It is not a fee or a prediction of the final price.
Which near-peg swap quote should you choose?
For most trades, choose the route with the best expected net output after gas, provided its slippage setting and route are acceptable. If one quote looks better before gas but worse after gas, the lower headline fee does not make it cheaper overall. Small swaps can be especially sensitive to fixed network costs.
Before confirming, check the minimum output shown by the wallet and compare it with the quote. That minimum reflects the slippage tolerance: a tighter limit can protect the received amount but may cause the trade to revert if the market moves. Recheck the quote just before signing, since pool prices and gas estimates can change.
