Aviva tokenizes £22B sterling fund share class on XRP Ledger

Aviva Investors and Ripple launched a tokenized share class for Aviva’s £22 billion Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger on 26 October, according to Aviva Investors’ announcement. Aviva invested £50 million in the new share class, the firm said.

How does the tokenized share class work?

Aviva uses a “digital twin” model that represents holdings on-chain while keeping the existing fund structure off-chain, the firm said. The share class is available to eligible investors with digital wallets; The Block reported that The Bank of New York Mellon holds the fund’s assets, with digital asset custodian Komainu and infrastructure platform Licuido supporting the launch.

How much has Aviva invested in tokenized funds?

Aviva said its investment brings the total across its two tokenized share classes to more than £86 million, or $116 million. The new sterling share class follows a tokenized share class for the firm’s USD Liquidity Fund, launched in July 2026, according to The Block’s report.

What does the Sterling Liquidity Fund hold?

The Ireland-domiciled UCITS money market fund offers daily liquidity and exposure to high-grade sterling-denominated short-term debt, Aviva said. The conventional fund launched in 2002, and Aviva said the tokenized class has the same investment objective, risk profile, liquidity characteristics and regulatory protections.
